On 11 June 2026, WAVE II brought together professionals from Cologne and the surrounding region with project partners from Italy, Serbia and Greece. The international methods workshop provided a lively space to discover innovative approaches to democracy education and youth participation and to exchange experiences across European contexts.

A key focus of the workshop was learning by doing. The international partner organisations introduced their methods, shared practical experiences and insights from working with young people, and invited participants to try the approaches themselves. In interactive sessions, professionals explored the methods from the perspective of the target group, discussed practical implementation and exchanged ideas on how the approaches could be adapted to their own work.

The workshop also offered valuable opportunities for networking and professional exchange. Participants highlighted the hands-on format, the international perspectives and the wide range of accessible methods as particular strengths. The event demonstrated the value of European cooperation in developing innovative ideas for intercultural youth social work and in empowering professionals to strengthen democratic values and meaningful participation among young people.
