As part of the Youth Labs of the Erasmus+ project WAVE II, COOSS and ANOLF organized the second Italian workshop on 30 October 2025 at the Torrette Youth Centre in Ancona, an important meeting place for young people from the city’s suburbs.
The central theme of the lab was human dignity, which was explored through play, reflection and dialog. Co-protagonist of the workshop was table tennis, a sport that is highly appreciated by the participants and symbolic due to its inclusive and democratic nature.
Under the guidance of two experienced youth educators, twelve participants took part in a variety of creative and participatory activities – from playing table tennis with frying pans instead of bats to solving coded crossword puzzles. Each activity was designed not only to entertain the young people and capture their attention, but also to encourage them to reflect more deeply on the guiding question: “What does dignity mean?”
The WAVE II project offered participants the opportunity to pause, reflect and share their perspectives on values, mutual respect and understanding of the life experiences of others.
The symbolic result of the workshop was the creation of a “dignity jug”: each participant wrote a personal and indispensable value on a table tennis ball and placed it in a shared container. The jug will remain in the youth center and serve as a permanent reminder to all young visitors: every person is important, every difference deserves recognition and acceptance, and dignity, respect and care are essential foundations for peaceful coexistence and friendship.
