On 28 May 2025, the Initiative for Development and Cooperation (IDC) organized a workshop on the EU values of anti-discrimination, equality and human dignity, aimed at youth workers working with refugees and migrants in Serbia.
The workshop was attended by six experienced youth workers from civil society organizations that support refugees and migrants across the country.
Participants deepened their understanding of the EU legal framework on human rights and protection mechanisms. A dynamic and open discussion followed, addressing the persistent gap between EU values and their implementation , which is often hampered by political interests and weak enforcement mechanisms.
During this exchange, participants reaffirmed the crucial role of civil society in advocating for the protection of human rights, holding institutions accountable and ensuring that the EU’s fundamental principles are applied meaningfully in practice.
