The WAVE II Project participated in Civil Society Week 2026 in Brussels from 2–5 March 2026 together with YES Forum, as part of the programme organised by the European Economic and Social Committee. During the event, the consortium exchanged ideas with youth workers, civil society organisations, and policymakers from across Europe on democracy, participation, and social inclusion.
As part of the programme, representatives of the project contributed to the workshop “Learners’ Voice & Educational Governance: Accessibility and Language in Citizenship Education” together with Inclusion Europe. Jama Nyeta presented Theater Direkt, a participatory democracy method developed in cooperation with Jugendmigrationsdienst Köln (KJA) and implemented within the WAVE II Project.
The method uses improvisational theatre to support young migrants in developing skills related to participation, dialogue, and democratic decision-making while reflecting on European values such as dignity, solidarity, and respect. The participation in Civil Society Week 2026 highlighted the project’s commitment to inclusive democracy education and strengthening civic engagement through innovative youth work approaches.
